INTERNATIONAL HISTORIC ULTRAMARATHON RACE
The International Euchidios Athlos Association “Euchidas” is delighted and honored to announce the 9th 9 Muses Race – Polymnia!
The 9th 9 Muses Race will be held under the auspices of the Region of Central Greece, the General Secretariat of Sports, and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), with the support and cooperation of the municipalities along the route: Thebes, Livadeia, Distomo–Arachova–Antikyra, and Delphi. The event will also benefit from the voluntary contribution and support of sports associations and organizations along the course.
This year's race will be a unique, festive, and celebratory event, as Polymnia marks the completion of a nine-year cycle, with each race dedicated to a different Muse!

9 MUSES RACE – POLYMNIA | AGIA ANNA – DELPHI
The 9 Muses Race is a themed event closely connected to Greek history and mythology, as is our tradition.
It is called the 9 Muses Race because a significant part of its route crosses Mount Helicon, which, according to Greek mythology, was the home of the Muses.
Each year, the race is dedicated to a different Muse, whose image appears on that year's unique finisher's medal, creating a very special collection for those who participate.
In 2018, the race was dedicated to Clio, the Muse of History.
In 2019, it was dedicated to Erato, the Muse of Love.
In 2021, it honored Urania, the Muse of Astronomy.
In 2022, it was dedicated to Calliope, the Muse of Epic Poetry.
In 2023, it honored Euterpe, the Muse and Patroness of Music.
In 2024, it was dedicated to Terpsichore, the Muse of Dance and Education.
In 2025, it honored Thalia, the Muse of Comedy and Agriculture.
In 2026, it was dedicated to Melpomene, the Muse of Tragedy, Rhetoric, and Song.
Finally, in 2027, the cycle of the nine Muses will conclude with Polymnia, the Muse of Sacred Hymns and Eloquence!
Race Information
DISTANCE: 59 km
START: Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 02:00 AM – Agia Anna
FINISH: Sunday, May 9, 2027 – Delphi
TIME LIMIT: 9 hours
CHECKPOINTS AND AID STATIONS:
There will be 8 fully staffed checkpoints and aid stations, as well as 4 unmanned water stations along the route.
TRANSPORTATION:
Bus transportation will be available for participants who wish to travel from Athens to Agia Anna and return from Delphi to Athens.
The awards ceremony will take place at midday on Sunday, May 9, 2027, following the completion of the races, the Flame Lighting Ceremony, and the traditional torch relay.
Participation requirements, prizes, the event schedule, and all other details will be available on our website, www.euchidiosathlos.gr, in the coming days, once the website has been updated.
The race will feature electronic timing, as well as medical support, with an ambulance and race doctors continuously present throughout the event.
The opening of registrations will be announced soon. We expect registrations to begin in November, once the website updates have been completed.

35th LIGHTING OF THE DELPHIC FLAME OF ULTRADISTANCE RUNNING
EUCHIDIAN TORCH RELAY
SUNDAY, MAY 9, 2027 – DELPHI
On Sunday, May 9, 2027, at approximately 12:00 PM, the traditional Lighting of the Delphic Flame will take place in Delphi as part of the 27th Euchidios Athlos.
This ceremony, which has been held since 1993, will take place in a simple and symbolic setting, followed by the Euchidian Torch Relay.
The torch relay is a symbolic event and will take place within the town of Delphi.
All athletes participating in both the Euchidios Athlos and the 9 Muses Race, as well as anyone else who wishes to take part, are invited to join this cultural celebration.
Take part in this special torch relay, carrying the flame and torch of Euchidas through the sacred town of Delphi!
Immediately afterward, the awards celebration will take place for the athletes of both the Euchidios Athlos and the 9 Muses Race.
