ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE 1ST FREEDOM RUN FOR 2027 ACTION REVIEW-SCHEDULE

Dear friends,

We are in the unfortunate position of informing you that, for reasons beyond our will, we have decided to postpone the revival of the historical course of our Exodus ancestors, from Messolonghi to Nafplio, to 2027.

The reasons for the postponement are briefly as follows:

• The failure to confirm the expected funding.

• The failure to complete the necessary road maintenance works in some parts of the historical route in a timely manner, which would ensure the safe cource of the runners.

We have put every effort on realizing the 1st revival of our ancestors’ course on the 200th anniversary, successfully from the planning point of view.

We found the route, recorded it and published a detailed map, along with the announcement. We planned the race in details. We visited all the municipalities along the route and found an enthusiastic response from local bodies. We processed and issued the race rules & regulations. We processed and issued instructions for the supervisors and volunteers.

We managed to receive the auspices of: Ministry of Tourism, Hellenic Tourism Organization (E.O.T.), Ministry of Education / General Secretariat of Sports, Government of Western Greece, Government of Central Greece, Municipality of the Sacred City of Messolonghi, Municipality of Thermo, Municipality of Dorida, Municipality of Nafpaktia, Municipality of Delphi.

We secured the support of all Municipalities along the route in Peloponnese

Municipality of Aegialia, Municipality Xylokastrou-Evrostinis, Municipality Sikionion, Municipality of Nemea, Municipality Argous-Mykinon, Nafplieon.

We secured the support also:

Confederation of All the Cultural Associations of Aitoloakarnania “PANSY” the Federation of cultural Associations of Messolonghi District (OSYEM), the Federation of Associations of Nafpaktia (OSYN), the Federation of Associations of Aegialia

Finally the support of Volunteer Samaritans, Rescuers & Lifeguards Corps of the RED CROSS and the official health organization “EKAB”.

We also secured communication sponsorship from ERT and from the runing media ADVENDURE, IRUNMAG, ULTRAMARATHON.

More than 200 volunteers came to help our effort with particular enthusiasm as the cause deserves.
