🏃 Cyprus Backyard Ultra 2026 – Race Announcement

General Information

Cyprus Backyard Ultra (CBU) returns for the 3rd consecutive year! A unique endurance ultramarathon that follows the official rules of Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra. The race takes place on a hill in Oroklini with panoramic views of Larnaca and the Mediterranean Sea.

Race Format

• Each runner must complete a 6.706 km loop within 60 minutes.

• All runners start every hour simultaneously.

• Those who finish earlier must wait until the next start.

• No assistance is allowed outside the start/finish area.

• The race continues until only one runner remains.

• All others are recorded as DNF (Did Not Finish).

Elevation & Terrain

The course is a dirt trail with 95m positive elevation gain per loop. The terrain consists of gravel, small stones, and dirt road.

Participation Eligibility

• The race is open to all runners over 18 years old.

• Participation under 18 is accepted with a signed parental/guardian consent form and the presence of the guardian during the athlete’s race.

• Participant limit: 75 runners (maximum).

Organizer’s Benefits

• Electronic timing and live results broadcast.

• Official results on Backyard Ultra Official and DUV (ITRA ranking in progress for ITRA points and National League).

• Finisher medal for all participants.

• Award for the first and second (assist).

• Commemorative technical T-shirt (extra €15).

• Central aid station with water, soft drinks, and basic supplies (fruits, snacks).

Registration & Entry Fee

• Registration opening: August 30, 2025.

• Entry fee: €60 per runner, €40 for all who participated in a previous CBU, €0 for those with 3 consecutive participations.

• Discount (€40) for running clubs entering a team of more than 7 athletes.

• Full refund for cancellation before/on March 1, 2026.

• 50% refund (or full credit for the following year) for cancellation before/on March 13, 2026.

Awards

• The last runner who completes a loop alone is declared the Winner of CBU 2026.

• The winner secures free entry to the next edition.
