The International Club "Euchidios Athlos – Euchidas" is delighted and honored to announce the 8th “Road of the 9 Muses – Melpomene”!
The 8th edition will be held under the auspices of the Region of Central Greece, the General Secretariat of Sports, the Greek National Tourism Organization, with the support and cooperation of the municipalities along the route: Thebes, Livadeia, Distomo-Arachova-Antikyra, Delphi, as well as the volunteer assistance of friends, clubs, and institutions along the way.

ROAD OF THE 9 MUSES – MELPOMENE

Distance: 59 km
Start: Saturday, May 16, 2026, 08:00, Agia Anna
Finish: Saturday, May 16, 2026, Delphi
Time Limit: 9 hours

The Concept:
The Road of the 9 Muses is a thematic race, closely tied to our history and mythology, as always.
It is named after the Nine Muses because much of the route crosses Mount Helicon — their mythological home.
Each year, the race is dedicated to a different Muse, who is depicted on the unique medal of that year, creating a special collector’s series for all participants:

• 2018 – Clio, Muse of History

• 2019 – Erato, Muse of Love Poetry

• 2021 – Urania, Muse of Astronomy

• 2022 – Calliope, Muse of Epic Poetry

• 2023 – Euterpe, Muse and Patroness of Music

• 2024 – Terpsichore, Muse of Dance and Education

• 2025 – Thalia, Muse of Comedy and Agriculture

• 2026 – Melpomene, Muse of Tragedy, Rhetoric, and Ode

Checkpoints & Aid Stations:

• 8 manned aid stations

• 4 unmanned water points

Transportation:
There will be a bus service for those who wish, transporting participants from Athens to Agia Anna and from Delphi back to Athens.

Participation criteria, awards, schedule, and all race details will be posted soon on our site: www.euchidiosathlos.gr once the update is complete.

Electronic timing will be used. Medical care will be provided, with ambulance and doctors present throughout the race.
Registration opening will be announced soon (expected late October / early November), after the website update is complete.

34th LIGHTING OF THE DELPHIC FLAME – EUCHIDIOS TORCH RELAY

Sunday, May 17, 2026 – Delphi

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, at approximately 09:30, in the framework of the Euchidios Athlos, the traditional Lighting of the Delphic Flame will take place (a tradition since 1993), followed by the Euchidios Torch Relay.

The torch relay is symbolic and takes place in the city of Delphi. All athletes, both from the Euchidios Ultra and from the 9 Muses Road Race, are invited to participate in this cultural event — as well as anyone who wishes.

Take part in this special torch relay, carrying the flame and the torch of Euchidas through the sacred city of Delphi!

Immediately afterward, the award ceremony for the athletes of the Euchidios Ultra Race and the Euchidios Athlos will follow.
